Fae
This will be about Fae. Or, in other words, faeries/fairies. When the word ‘faerie’ is said to most people, an image of a petite winged male or female comes to mind. This is not wrong, but there are some that believe faeries are as big as we are.
Faeries are sometimes known as our better species because they look like us and are as intelligent as us (maybe even more so) but they have magical powers and they do not use their powers and intelligence to screw over the world (like we are currently doing). Instead, they are one with Mother Nature. I doubt that they use technology, relying more on their magic to go about their daily lives. They also have long lives, being able to live up to a few hundred years old and still look like a young adult. And of course, like any other average supernatural creature, they are beautiful. More beautiful than the average human (of course).
Although they have long lives, they can die due to normal causes like poison, sickness, or injury, very much like us. They are also known die from weird causes, like a broken heart, something we humans rarely do (there are a few for us – those that cannot survive and end up committing suicide). They avoid iron, preferring to use silver, gold and bronze, as iron saps their strength and renders them powerless and vulnerable.
Faeries don’t like to be thanked when they do something for someone, thinking that a “thank you” meant that you were going to forget their act of kindness. They preferred having the person show that they would not forget them and their help.
They are said to like pretty people and people with blonde hair. They are also said to have green eyes.
It is possible for them to raise a human child. There are stories in which faeries switch a human child with one of their own. These children are called “Changelings”. Goodness knows why they do so. These Changelings can either be baby faeries, trolls, insert mystical humanoid creature here, or old faeries. Sometimes, the human baby would be substituted by a golem… which will become sick and die in a few years. A few ways to get a Changeling to admit that it’s a Changeling are to brew eggshells, put eggshells near a fireplace, to cook family meals in an eggshell, or to mistreat the child. There were many cases of child abuse and child murders back then. The mothers always claimed that her (dead/abused) child was a Changeling. Of course, most were punished.
What are your views on faeries?

Selkie
We’ll start with the female part of the race. If you’ve been reading about selkies, you would know that selkies are seal-like creatures that take on a human form when they shed their hide. The female selkie is more well-known (which is not really any help to me since my story has male selkies. Not female). Oh well, about the female selkie… Usually human males would get enamored by the female selkie’s human form and would steal her pelt and hide it somewhere (as for why they didn’t just destroy it… beats me) because the ways to force a selkie to stay on land are to hide her pelt, keeping it away from her, or to destroy it (most popular method is burning). However, when the selkie gets her pelt back, she will go back to the sea, not to be seen again… unless she’s the motherly kind. Then, she’ll come back to take care of her children (while they are by the seaside).
Male selkies… they are known to be… well… really, really handsome. Unnaturally and unworldly so. They are very alluring and, unlike their female counterpart who doesn’t exactly wish to stay on land or anything, they have no real qualms about shedding their hide (keeping it in a safe place, of course) and going to land to seduce women (for one-night stands). If a female wishes to summon one, she would have to go out to the sea at high tide and shed seven tears into the sea. Then a male selkie would come up to land and give her the best night of her life before going back to the sea. It is said that they are extremely possessive (which supernatural creature is not?) and get jealous real easily (which is really hypocritical of them since they tend to leave their spouse alone when they go back to their ‘one true love’ – the sea).
Selkies can stay on land for a year and one day before they have to go back to the sea, disappearing for seven years. There are also human males and females that disappear into the ocean, supposedly taken away by selkies as spouses. If some other water creature (i.e. merfolk) didn’t get it at first, that is. As legend says, anyway. Their children (half-selkies) can choose to either stay on land for the rest of their lives or go to sea and become a selkie. Sometimes, they are born with abnormalities (webbed feet, hands, etc).
Not much is known of their world underneath the surface of the sea. However, they do say that the most beautiful (I’d rather read that as awesome) of selkies live at the bottom of the sea. Perhaps they have a hierarchy system, in which the more beautiful you are, the better you are treated (how shallow). Since it is said that humans are taken to be married to selkies, perhaps they have a way to enable to human to breathe under water.
What do you think?
First Post
Alright, usually the first post is to show who I am, what this thing is about and all that. So yeah, my name is..... well, I won't tell you my name but I'll refer to myself as Keishi. Anyway, this blog will be about random things that float about in my head - but not about my daily life. That's what my other blog (under a totally different name and account for goodness-knows-what reason) is for.
So, this blog will mainly be about my stories and the world they are in. More about the world. So, my stories fall under Sci-fi(ish), Fantasy, Supernatural and Crime. Not altogether, though. The theme most common in my stories is romance or friendship. Usually both, but I value friendship over romance. Although I value family over anything, I usually don't write about it in case I touch on offensive topics.
So, expect posts mainly about supernatural and fantasy creatures. Sometimes there will be the occasional other subject but mainly those things.
The information on the site would most probably be inaccurate since the creatures in here are used for my stories. So, they are a mix between real folklore and my own (twisted) imagination.
And I have no idea why I wrote this whole thing since I'm probably the only one to visit this site.
I created this site to store my knowledge about races other than humankind so that I do not have to search again and again about these races. Yeap.
Awkward way to end off, haha.
