Fae

This will be about Fae. Or, in other words, faeries/fairies. When the word ‘faerie’ is said to most people, an image of a petite winged male or female comes to mind. This is not wrong, but there are some that believe faeries are as big as we are.

Faeries are sometimes known as our better species because they look like us and are as intelligent as us (maybe even more so) but they have magical powers and they do not use their powers and intelligence to screw over the world (like we are currently doing). Instead, they are one with Mother Nature. I doubt that they use technology, relying more on their magic to go about their daily lives. They also have long lives, being able to live up to a few hundred years old and still look like a young adult. And of course, like any other average supernatural creature, they are beautiful. More beautiful than the average human (of course).

Although they have long lives, they can die due to normal causes like poison, sickness, or injury, very much like us. They are also known die from weird causes, like a broken heart, something we humans rarely do (there are a few for us – those that cannot survive and end up committing suicide). They avoid iron, preferring to use silver, gold and bronze, as iron saps their strength and renders them powerless and vulnerable.

Faeries don’t like to be thanked when they do something for someone, thinking that a “thank you” meant that you were going to forget their act of kindness. They preferred having the person show that they would not forget them and their help.

They are said to like pretty people and people with blonde hair. They are also said to have green eyes.

It is possible for them to raise a human child. There are stories in which faeries switch a human child with one of their own. These children are called “Changelings”. Goodness knows why they do so. These Changelings can either be baby faeries, trolls, insert mystical humanoid creature here, or old faeries. Sometimes, the human baby would be substituted by a golem… which will become sick and die in a few years. A few ways to get a Changeling to admit that it’s a Changeling are to brew eggshells, put eggshells near a fireplace, to cook family meals in an eggshell, or to mistreat the child. There were many cases of child abuse and child murders back then. The mothers always claimed that her (dead/abused) child was a Changeling. Of course, most were punished.

What are your views on faeries?
